Our Unruly and Irresponsible Behaviour In the Face of Corona Crisis

Are you also frustrated and saddened to see Pakistani public acting non-seriously and not complying with corona-related instructions?
Are you also blaming the public for how irresponsible and illiterate they are?

This is a case study for you to come to terms with the truth and understand why our public always behaves irresponsibly in the face of every crisis; and why other people like those of China conduct themselves with discipline and responsibility amidst a crisis. Everyone is human and all are born the same way, then why is it that people of some nations are organized and disciplined, and others are unruly and exhibit mob-like mentality?

The answer lies in the fact that mass behaviour of any nation is not spontaneous or rampant; it is actually engineered and designed by social institutions of that country through the life-long process of socialization. Over 70 years rule of different governments in our country has kept our public illiterate, unaware and insensitive. Education was paid least attention to, and living standards were kept low due to recurrent economic woes. In essence, all social institutions have been in shambles. Consequently, poor socialization has rendered our people like mobs and herds who do not even know how to behave in a particular situation; and they do not even realize what the significance of discipline and social responsibility is for a society.

If you are blaming the public for not being serious about the spectre of Corona, then you are actually blaming the victims. It is only the system that should take all the blame for not fulfilling its responsibilities towards its subjects. The people of China are disciplined and act responsibly because they have been trained, groomed and socialized by their system in a proper way. On the contrary, our people are unruly and undisciplined because our system has completely failed them. Everyone is born from his/her mother's womb like a clean slate; it is the system that shapes our behaviour and conduct through the socialization process.
